Experience 1: The impact on the taste of lenses on the food

From Ata Jami, a psychologist from the University of Florida, Central, wanted to know, if you can improve your self-consciousness when eating high-hot foods, can you reduce your intake?

He asked 185 college students to participate in the experiment, first let everyone choose healthy food (fruit salad) or unhealthy food (chocolate cake). However, in the case of receiving music information (groups 1-4), their evaluation of the deliciousness of the food is very different, regardless of where they sit or what type of food they eat.

Sitting in different positions to eat "unhealthy food" will affect the degree of deliciousness, which may be because sitting in front of the lens will see the way you eat, which strengthens your self-consciousness and leads to a gap in the current behavior (eating unhealthy food) and the public standard (eating healthy food), which will make people feel uncomfortable.

To avoid this feeling, people will feel uncomfortable due to other factors (foods), rather than because their behavior does not match the public standards. For healthy foods, because they have already done behaviors that meet the standards of the public, they will not change their deliciousness.

The groups that were told that music would affect mood, regardless of where they sat, eating "unhealthy food" did not affect the assessment of deliciousness, because they had been suggested that some of the feelings were from music, and therefore also made eating in front of the lens uncomfortable because of music rather than food.

Experience 2: The impact of environmental sound on food intake

Research by Brigham Young University and Colorado State University in the United States pointed out that the sound of people eating affects the amount of food intake. Before one of the experiments, 71 college students were asked to evaluate various aspects of the situation, mainly to measure the fat index.

Participants are randomly divided into two groups, one plays noisy environmental sounds to cover the sound of chewing food; the other group highlights the chewing sounds with a peaceful environment. Then ask them to eat at least one piece of dried puff, but there is no upper limit, so they can eat as much as they like.

The results found that people in the noisy environment group ate 4 pieces of baking, and the static environment group ate 2.75 pieces of baking. It seems that when people eat in a noisy environment, their appetite will be higher than in a peaceful environment.

It may be because in a tranquil environment, it is easier to notice the sounds made when chewing food, thereby reducing your appetite.
