According to TA, Newcastle is in contact with Southampton for signing Ramsdale.
It is reported that Newcastle United has submitted its first loan offer with a buyout clause. The two clubs are still in talks but no agreement has been reached. Southampton will consider selling directly, transferring on loan at high loan fees and buy prices, or allowing Ramsdale to stay in the team next season.
27-year-old Ramsdale moved to Southampton from Arsenal for £25 million last summer, with a contract until 2029. The England goalkeeper worked with Newcastle coach Eddie Howe at Bournemouth for three years from 2017 to 2020.
Ramsdale played for Bournemouth last season and played 3 clean sheets for the Saints, but the team eventually ranked at the bottom of the Premier League - this is the third time in his career that he has experienced a top-flight relegation.
Ramsdale played for Arsenal for three years and played all the leagues as Arteta's main goalkeeper in the 2022-23 season, and the team finally won the runner-up. But he was replaced by David Raya next season.
Ramsdale and Raya
were revealed to have chased Trafford last summer and had a chance to sign before the club's World Cup at the end of May, when Manchester City had not considered signing him yet. However, as the Blue Moon changed its plan, Guardiola's team matched Newcastle's £27 million offer, and the player also agreed to sign a five-year contract (including one-year renewal option) to return to his parent team that he left in June 2023.
