In the European World Cup qualifiers held early this morning, France defeated Azerbaijan 3-0 at home. French right back Gusteau was interviewed after the game.
Why does Azerbaijan cause you so much trouble?
I don’t know...but I know that my opponent is capable. We were a little slow in the first half but got better after that. We know we can't let up or we'll get into trouble. Because we had the ball a lot, we were a little sloppy at times, so we needed to pick up the tempo again.
What did Coach Deschamps say to you at halftime?
He said we moved the ball too slowly and that's why we didn't score more goals. We had to come back out there with better intentions and better attitude, and we did that.
The World Cup is approaching.
There are still some games to be played, but we have made a good start. The World Cup is a clear goal and we will go all out for it.
Do you think your position is more stable?
I don’t know if I should judge it myself, but I feel like I’m getting more and more comfortable in the team. I'm getting acclimated and trying to show what I can do.
