Melbourne Mayor Nick Rees recently posted on social media, calling on Tottenham to reconsider the decision to fire Postkoglu.
Aupoa led Tottenham to win the UEFA Cup this season, but was fired because of its poor league results. Melbourne Mayor Nick Rees said: "On behalf of Melbourne citizens and global Premier League fans, I call on Tottenham Hotspur club to reconsider the decision to fire Postkoglu coach."
"We Melbourne have been paying attention to Postkoglu's career for decades. The coach started his youth training and adult team career at the South Melbourne FC in the 1980s as a player, and then coached here."
"Never underestimate it." Postkoglu's persistence in victory and his ability to lead the team to glory, we have witnessed him creating miracles countless times. This year's Tottenham's historic European Cup (the team's first championship in 17 years) is proof of this year. If opportunities are given, more trophies will surely follow."
"Don't let Tottenham become a team that is 'allergic' to the championship trophy, and Postkoglu leads players to create new glory in the Premier League next year."
